Overview

OVERVIEW OF POSITION:Under the guidance of the Therapy Supervisor, this role leads Speech Language Pathologist Assistants (SLPAs),Clinical Fellow Speech Language Pathologists (CF-SLPs), and Speech Language Pathologists (SLPs) at the clinic.

Responsibilities include case consultations, reviewing reports, conducting weekly staff meetings, and contributing to the annual job performance evaluations for SLPAs and CF-SLPs.

Additionally, the individual assists the Therapy Supervisor with ongoing program evaluation and development, supervises Clinical Fellows/Assistants, and acts as the primary contact for Interns in the office and/or region when needed. The role involves implementing discipline-specific treatments for children diagnosed with autism and other special needs, which encompasses evaluations, planning, documentation, and professional communication

Salary: $110,000 - $120,000 annually

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Maintains 50% productivity goal each week/month by completing all scheduled therapy sessions; provides make-up sessions as available. Productivity adjustments are made based on amount of SLPAs and CFs being directly supervised. Conducts and interprets speech and language screenings and/or evaluations; develops, implements and follows documented treatment plans or protocols; provides direct treatment to patients. Completes reevaluations, progress reports and discharge summaries; completes daily intervention reports and calendar updates, while meeting required deadlines. Sets goals and modifies the plan throughout the intervention process in collaboration with clients and family/caregiver(s)/legal guardian(s). Collaborates and consults with other service providers as necessary. Provides clinical supervision of SLPs, SLPAs, and CFYs, up to the maximum allowed by ASHA and the CA licensing board, in order to maintain clinical standards of practice. This includes periodic review of daily documentation, review of all semi-annual progress reports and re-evaluation reports, ensuring accurate administration and interpretation of assessments. Conducts clinical orientation of new SLP/SLPA/CF staff. Assigns support supervision for CFs and SLPA's when needed. Promotes best practices and ensures patients and families receive the highest quality of therapy. Performs clinical portion of annual performance appraisals for SLPA staff. Assists Therapy Supervisor in presenting clinical portion of performance appraisals. Assists in developing and implementing clinical performance improvement plans for SLPA staff when necessary. Assists Therapy Supervisor in on-going program evaluation, budgeting, ordering supplies, attending meetings, ensuring authorizations are received promptly, interviewing prospective staff members, and in making hiring decisions. Assists in planning clinical education meetings for staff. Remains current with new research and up-to-date trends in autism treatment. Keeps staff abreast of state and national speech news and events. Provides in-servicing when needed. Ensures SLPA staff is maintaining licensure and certification if applicable. Evaluates use for, designs, checks, and maintains relevant equipment including, but not limited to, augmentative and alternative communication devices (AAC). Serves as the point person for SLP student interns in office and/or region. Collaborates with ESSC leadership in the devlopemnt, maintenence, and innovation of the SLPA, CF andSLP student program. Coordinates directly with the Manager of Non-KP Billing and Student Affairs Liason regarding SLP students. Approve session notes and reports for SLPA and CF-SLPs to be billed. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION: Master's degree in speech-language pathology from an ASHA Accredited program.EXPERIENCE: Minimum of five (5) years' experience as a licensed and certified speech and langauge pathologist with supervisory experience of at least one SLPA and or 1 SLP/A student -OR - Three (3) years with supervisory experience of an SLPA for at least one year and or at least 3 SLP/A students. Requires 3-5 years' experience working with clients with Autism Spectrum Disorders, in either a clinical or educational program. Knowledgeable of evidence-based practices found to benefit children with Autism. Demonstrated knowledge in speech language therapy, interdisciplinary early intervention theories, and rehabilitation principles and practices. Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel) and Electronic Medical Records (EMR).KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: An analytical mind with problem-solving skills specifically to address the evaluation, treatment and ongoing caregiver training for the participants served. Update and maintain personal schedule in order to provide adequate supervision. Ability to consider people capacity for growth and support those who want to extend their knowledge. Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities to coordinate their schedule among others and complete tasks as the set deadline. Proficient in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Excellent supervisory and coaching skills. Ability to interface with all levels of management. Team oriented and collaborative. Open to feedback and willing to strive to improve own performance based on feedback. Ability to travel locally; maintain driving record in compliance with Transportation Safety Standards; maintain auto insurance and vehicle registration.
