We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Bakery Assistant to join our team making NY Style Bagels and Schmears. The ideal candidate will have a passion for baking and food production, and is interested in hands-on baking experience in a role with lots of growth opportunities! As a Bakery Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our culinary team in creating delicious baked goods while ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation, shaping and baking of bagels and other baked goods.
• Follow recipes accurately to ensure consistency in taste and presentation.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and baking areas, adhering to food safety standards.
• Assemble product packaging and assist in sorting wholesale orders.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, mixers, and other baking tools.
• Help with inventory management by monitoring stock levels of ingredients and supplies.
• Collaborate with the culinary team to develop new recipes and improve existing products.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a bakery, restaurant, or culinary environment is preferred but not required.
• Strong understanding of food safety practices and regulations.
• Reliable and Punctual (you'll be starting early - must love mornings!)
• Detail oriented and consistent
• Basic knowledge of baking techniques and food production processes.
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with team members and customers.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail even when completing reptitive tasks.
• Proficiency in using kitchen tools such as knives, mixers, and ovens is advantageous.
• A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work collaboratively within a team.

• Interest in more customer facing roles at various events is definitely a plus!
• Ability to deliver wholesale product to our customers is not required, but an available opportunity for this role.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 - 30 per week
