Under the direction of the Principal Safety Engineer of the Research and Standards Safety Unit (R&SSU), the Office Technician (Typing) provides clerical support and performs a variety of administrative functions for the R&SSU with the Division of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) in the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR). The Office Technician is responsible for adhering to the laws, rules, policies, and procedures pertaining to civil service employees in general, as well as to specific procedure and policies of the DOSH R&SSU. The incumbent works professionally and cooperatively with the R&SSU Seniors, DOSH management and staff, DIR employees, and the public. This position interacts with a wide variety of people, and the incumbent is responsible for viewing, maintaining, and communicating sensitive and confidential information. It is critical that the incumbent maintains professionalism and conducts themselves as a representative of the DOSH R&SSU.

Working Conditions
This position is located at: Cal/OSHA Research and Standards Safety Unit 2 MacArthur Place, Suite 700, Santa Ana, CA 92707. The incumbent works in a high-rise building with natural and artificial light and temperature controls and occupies a cubicle workspace. The incumbent is required to work extensively on the computer as necessary for email communication, accessing software platforms, drafting documents, data entry, and other purposes.
