The Division HR Field Manager is a trusted advisor to the business leadership team. Under the leadership of the Division HR Director and/or Associate HR Director, the HR Field Manager partners with the Division leadership on achieving positive financial results through HR analytics and challenging conventional thinking. Participates in decision-making at a business unit level and proes informed input across the full business priorities. In addition, the Division HR Field Manager coaches and supports others to help improve or increase Sonoco s employees experience.

The Division HR Field Manager is also responsible for directing the work of Plant HR Managers and other plant HR positions within the Division. Ensures accountability of team’s projects, plant visits and response times. Ensures proper handling of employee relations activities at plant locations. Drive the understanding and application of Federal, State laws, such as, EEOC, FMLA, ADA, HIPPA, COBRA, NLRB, etc., and other legal requirements to protect thepany against litigation and to maintain non-union status where applicable. Reviews surveys on employee morale, local wages/benefits, employment issues. Summarize and proe rmendations to management regarding regional assessments. Works with management tomunicate, train, coach and assist employees in an effort to maintain effective employee morale. Ensure local hourly recruiting activities including diversity hiring, employee tracking and interviewing are successfully managed. Proe and participate in employee and management counseling regardingpany policies, procedures, legal requirements, employee performance, discipline, benefits, restructuring, etc.

What you’ll be doing:

  • In partnership with Division HR Director and/or Associate HR Director, helps to develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives that will enhance employee engagement and is aligned with the overall business strategy.
  • Through partnership with centralized Talent Acquisition and Division HR Director and/or Associate HR Director, manages and executes plans to implement new or updated recruiting strategies at the business unit level, lead recruitment strategies at plant level. Partners with managers and TA to support the strategic talent acquisition process to develop a diverse, robust talent pipeline.
  • Supports COE initiatives and programs by working closely with all HR functional teams, including Talent Management, Compensation, Benefits, etc.
  • Works with management to understand job responsibilities and business needs for new positions. Understands the new position s impact on existing positions and advises management of the job evaluation process.
  • Analyzes data proed by center on key jobs/positions and drives conversation around succession and organizational structures, with focus on plant level.
  • Supports and participates in Division level talent reviews/succession planning and talent management.
  • Promotes and protects thepany s culture throughmunications, actions, and leading by example.
  • Proes insight and strategic advice for leaders on improving the employee experience throughout the business unit level.
  • Review the Plant HR Managers’ knowledge and abilities regarding the following and proe feedback/assistance where needed:
    • Has general awareness of new laws and regulations and assists in implementation at the local level.
    • Demonstrates a so understanding of the key concepts of Sonoco’s talent management processes.
    • Can effectivelyentify performance issues, as necessary.
  • Conducts annual harassment and workplace violence training. Holds team accountable forpletion.
  • Participates in SPS locally and within HR.
  • Ensures diversity, inclusion, and unconscious bias training isplete at the plant (when this bes available).
  • Encourages the use of Sonoco University to learn about training and development resources.
  • Proes support and gance to employees with concerns or issues - problem solving, employee performance, last chance agreements.
  • Applies policy understanding to employee situations, e.g., occurrences.
  • Proes opportunities for open discussions and meetings forplaint and conflict resolution.
  • Builds positive relationships with both the salaried and hourly workforce at the plants.
  • Develop relationships with the local union and plant union representation.
  • Ensures appropriate administration of contract.
  • Works through grievances with the Labor Relations group s assistance
  • Uses the relevant systems required for the day-to-day operational activities related to the role (e.g. KRONOS, SIMON, Workday).
  • Understands the key business processes that are enabled through the systems (e.g., IT requests, payroll, benefits).
  • Understands the key inputs and outputs required, how information flows through the system and how outputs are used in the broader business context.
  • Establishes and maintains an effective relationship with internal business partners and gains their trust and respect.
  • Understands the importance of balancing the employee and the business interests.
  • Advocates for “Doing the right thing.”
  • Travels as required to support team needs, assists with investigations, onboards new Plant HR Managers.
  • Oversee the salaried and key leader selection process at the plants within assigned Division.
  • Develop and ensure proper administration of structured interview processes within Division.
  • Review trends or concerns in hourly hiring and workforce planning and take appropriate steps to resolve them.
  • Demonstrates and conveys an in-depth understanding of corporate policies and procedures and legal standards in the hiring process.
  • Ensures that diversity and inclusion efforts are a part of the recruiting process at the plant level.
  • Partners with plants to implement initiatives to improve Sonoco capabilities, capacity and succession planning.
  • Finds opportunities to standardize and drive process improvement across the Division.
  • Oversee the process of onboarding new managers to ensure assimilation into their new roles.
  • Communicate the value of effectivepensation programs and ensure they are designed for the local external environment working with Corporate Compensation.
  • Ensure accuratemunication of pension and retirement programs.
  • Drive implementation ofpensation changes consistently using best practices. This includes spot bonuses, job structures, and base rates as examples.
  • Review the Plant HR Manager ability to properly train local resources onpensation and benefits occurrences.
  • Align with Plant HR Managers and other Managers to ensure General Wage Increases aremunicated appropriately within Division.
  • Proe tactical support in the day-to-day HR activities of the Division.
  • Direct the work of Plant HR Managers within Division
  • Proe timely and accurate feedback of employee performance and address issues accordingly

We’d love to hear from you if:

  • Masters Degree Preferred
  • 7 + years direct HR experience preferably in manufacturing setting
  • 10+ years direct HR experience preferred.

  • HR Certification preferred (HRCI or SHRM)

Compensation:

The annual base salary range for this role is from $116,925.00 to $140,310.00

An annual bonus is awarded to eligible employees upon attaining various business and indiual goals as defined by the Company and the department leader. This annual bonus is discretionary, and the Company has sole discretion to determine the amount of the award.
