MULTIPLE POSITIONS WILL BE FILLED WITH THIS JOB POSTING! Position Information This position may be filled as either a Probational or a Job Appointment (open to all qualified applicants); a Promotion (open to all statewide classified and agency wide permanent status employees); or by Detail to Special Duty. Current permanent status, classified employees may be required to accept a Probational appointment if selected. If filled as a Job Appointment, there is a possibility that this position may be converted to a Probational Appointment should funding become available. Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Three years of experience in unemployment insurance, workforce development programs, workers compensation, administrative services, or social services; OR Six years of full-time experience in any field; OR A bachelors degree. EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field. Job Concepts
Function of Work: To conduct entry professional work in the Office of Regulatory Services. Level of Work: Entry. Supervision Received: General from higher level ORS job. Supervision Exercised: None. Location of Work: Department of Labor, Office of Regulatory Services. Job Distinctions: Differs from ORS Specialist 2 by the requirement of participation in mandatory training; the degree of supervision received; and by lack of journeyman responsibility and by performance of only one job function within a unit.
Examples of Work
Establishes the eligibility of unemployment insurance claims, pay when due, adjust improper payments and collect overpaid benefits. Examines and processes unemployment insurance initial, renewed, and continued claims pertaining to intrastate, interstate, federal employees, ex-servicemen, and other federal funded programs. Reviews and processes initial and contested wage record documents from local offices and employers for use in establishing monetary eligibility. Reviews written protests from employers and prepares same for processing. Updates computer records to correct errors reflected by computer generated error lists, appeal decisions, court cases, and requests by local offices. Initiates action to generate benefit payments resulting from deletion and/or correction of computer records. Reviews cases to assess fraud and/or overpayment, arranges repayment schedules for claimants, processes reimbursements, prepares documentation of evidence to make recommendations to district attorney. Conducts program compliance audits; serves as a contact in a specified program area. Adjudicates claims and renders non-monetary determinations based on an examination of records and information obtained through correspondence and/or telephone contacts. Prepares documents for computer input. Responds orally and/or in writing to general inquiries from employers, claimants, colleagues, and public officials.
