The Position

The Institutional Compliance Specialist is responsible for supporting California Intercontinental University (CIU) in maintaining compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards, particularly those set by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC) and the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). This role assists the Director of Compliance in ensuring institutional adherence to accreditation requirements, tracking regulatory deadlines, preparing agency reports, and monitoring compliance efforts across departments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct periodic audits of CIUs compliance with DEAC, ACBSP, and other accreditation standards, identifying areas of opportunity.
  • Maintain and oversee the compliance calendar, tracking accreditation and regulatory deadlines, fees, and reporting requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation, review, and submission of accreditation reports, applications, and reaffirmation documentation.
  • Monitor and update compliance checklists within each CIU department to ensure continuous institutional compliance.
  • Collect, organize, and maintain evidence for accreditation reports, agency requests, and regulatory reviews while ensuring all agency reporting deadlines are communicated and met on time.
  • Provide quarterly updates to leadership and stakeholders regarding accreditation and regulatory changes.
  • Support accreditation site visits, institutional self-studies, and compliance-related audits.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and record-keeping of compliance-related activities and submissions.
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure adherence to accreditation and regulatory standards.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of compliance-related policies and best practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The minimum requirements:

  • : Bachelors degree required; Masters degree preferred in Education, Business, Compliance, or a related field.
  • : Experience in accreditation, compliance, or institutional effectiveness within higher education is preferred.
  • :
  • Familiarity with DEAC and ACBSP accreditation standards and regulatory expectations.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with compliance tracking systems is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal teams.

Pay: $57,000.00 - $59,000.00 per year
